BEGINNING ADMINISTRATORS
Overview
This level will provide leadership development and training for administrators who have just started in their position or have one year of experience. Focus will support the understanding and concepts in building a foundation for quality leadership.
Tier II Professional Administrative Services Credential Program
California's two-tier structure for school administrators provides both the Tier I level that prepares aspiring administrator for entry into a first administrative position, and the Tier II level that is an individualized plan for targeted professional development that addresses the responsibilities of the educational leadership to which the new administrator is assigned. In Tier I, aspiring administrators complete the year-long coursework prior to assuming full administrative responsibilities. Targeted Professional Development for Tier II is completed concurrently with the first few years of administrative experience.
The Sacramento County Office of Education is a State Board of Education is an approved provider for Tier II offering Module 1, 2, and 3 training sessions for the Administrator Training Program. Administrators can earn their Tier II Administrative Services Credential by fully attending all three modules and completing 80 hours of practicum.

Note: The Administrator Training Program (ATP) is sun setting (California Education Code, section 44510-44517). Participants choosing to enroll in this program to earn the Tier II Administrative Services credential will need to (1) complete all program components by September 1, 2013, and (2) submit the application documentation to the CTC no later than March 1, 2014, with the second full year of Administrative Services fulfilled.
The Sacramento County Office of Education will be an approved provider for the new Tier II program that is based on the revised California Commission on Teacher Credentialing guidelines. The First 90 Days: A New Principal's Workshop 
Being a new principal is one of the most stressful and high-demanding jobs. In order to mitigate stress and provide useful strategies, the Sacramento County Office of Education is offering a two-session workshop for new principals that will assist in providing an overall plan for setting a foundation for successful leadership in a new assignment. This workshop will provide strategies and direction that will focus on involving stakeholders, powerful communication, and outlining the first ninety days for success.
